Rust in Peace is Megadeth at their most technically formidable and creatively focused. Released in 1990, the album pushed thrash metal into more complex, melodic and progressive territory without losing its speed or aggression. It was the first Megadeth record to feature guitarist Marty Friedman and drummer Nick Menza, and the chemistry across Holy Wars...The Punishment Due, Hangar 18 and Tornado of Souls helped make the album a genre benchmark. Produced by Mike Clink, it remains one of Megadeth’s most acclaimed and influential releases, cementing their place alongside Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax at the peak of metal’s late-80s, early-90s evolution.
