Only two years after Leonard Cohen's last number one album "Popular Problems", a new work by the Canadian singer-songwriter followed in October 2016 with "You Want It Darker". It also reached the top of the charts several times.
Only a few days later came the shocking news: the Canadian singer-songwriter died on 7 November. He lived to be 82. "You Want It Darker" is the last album of the legend.The name says it all, because Cohen continues the melancholic, gloomy mood and the deep sounds of his previous albums. With the minimalistic and hypnotizing title track "You Want It Darker" there had already been a first foretaste in September. The singer's sparse speech vocals are complemented by gospel songs of the Shaar Hashomayim Synagogue Choir from Montreal.In total the singer recorded nine new songs for "You Want It Darker". Cohen's son Adam was responsible for the production.Even at the age of 82, Leonard Cohen had not yet had enough of making music.
